Consultation Appointments

Consultations with our Social Work team are available to anyone upon request by contacting START on (03) 355 4414. A consultation can be provided by telephone, online or in person by appointment at START’s premises.

  • START offers consultations to members of both the general and professional communities.
  • A consultation is helpful to people who have queries, concerns, or are dealing with issues of sexual violence. START is able to offer support, clarification, information, expert advice and advocacy.
  • START offers consultations to all adult counselling client referrals as well as the parents/caregivers of younger counselling client referrals. These consultations may lead to people being offered a place on START’s Counselling waitlist. Regardless, all consultation clients are offered further social work support as appropriate.
  • START additionally offers consultations to other professionals regarding sexual violence concerns.

Educational Provision

START provides educational workshops, seminars and courses regarding matters related to sexual violence and trauma. Pricing for these sessions is by negotiation.

  • These workshops can be requested by members of the general and/or professional communities.
  • Workshops are individually tailored to each group’s needs.
  • Commonly requested workshops include:
    1. Trauma Informed Care
    2. Child/ Youth Sexual Violence
    3. Adult Sexual Violence
    4. Managing Disclosures

These workshops can be designed for professionals, statutory authorities, tertiary students, school communities, health professionals parenting groups, social service agencies, etc. (Costs are by negotiation).
